You Don’t Find Peace. You Design It.

A couple years ago, if you would’ve asked me what peace looked like, I probably would’ve said a vacation. 😂

Or money.

Or finally getting everything on my to-do list done.

I thought peace was something waiting for me somewhere in the future.

Now I don’t think that anymore.

I think peace is designed.

That sounds so simple, but I didn’t realize how true it was until I started looking around my own house.

The books I’ve collected over the years?

I chose those.

The singing bowls in my living room?

I chose those too.

The little rug I made with my own hands because I couldn’t find one that felt like me?

I chose that.

The plants.

The warm lighting.

The journal I keep nearby.

Even the music I play while I’m cleaning.

None of those things happened by accident.

I was creating an environment that made it easier for my nervous system to breathe.

That’s crazy to think about because for years I thought healing was going to happen inside my mind.

Nobody told me healing can happen in your environment too.

The room you’re sitting in right now…

Does it make you exhale?

Or does it remind you of everything you haven’t done yet?

I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately.

Especially while building my business.

People see books, jewelry, body scrubs, sound bowls, tote bags… and probably wonder what all those things have to do with each other.

To me?

Everything.

They’re all different ways of helping someone create a softer life.

A book can change how you think.

A journal can help you process what you’ve been carrying.

A singing bowl can remind you to stop rushing for five minutes.

Even putting on a necklace that makes you feel beautiful can change how you walk into a room.

None of those things fix your life.

But they can remind you that your life is worth caring for.

Honestly… Self Care Swank isn’t just a business to me.

It’s me trying to build the kind of place I wish I had years ago.

Somewhere that reminds people to slow down, take care of themselves, and believe that healing doesn’t have to be loud to be life-changing.

I don’t have all the answers.

I’m still learning, healing, creating, and becoming.

But if something I’ve built, written, or shared helps someone breathe a little deeper or feel a little less alone, then I’m walking in my purpose.

Maybe that’s why I’ve been so intentional lately.

Buying the second domain.

Working on my website.

Learning sound engineering.

Making things with my hands instead of buying everything.

Little by little, I’m building a life that feels like somewhere I actually want to wake up in.

Not because everything is perfect.

Because it’s becoming peaceful.

Maybe that’s what healing really is.

Not finding peace.

Designing it.

One choice at a time.

With love,
Courtney Swank
